After the passing of legislation, schools in the area are attempting to be “green” while they clean. According to Columbus Community Schools Superintendent, Marlene Johnson, the Green Cleaning mandate is an effort to rid schools of cleaning products with toxic chemicals and replace them with environmentally conscience products.

She says Columbus is still in the process of using up their old products and replacing them with safer ones.

The requirements of the mandate were covered at the last School Board meeting.
