A local farmer is weighing in on how this dry summer is affecting yields and harvesting. According to Kevin Flynn the average year sees a yield of 120-200 bushels per acre of corn in Washington County, this year the yield will probably be around 80-140 bushels. He adds some farmers were considering harvesting as early as the 1st of September, but will now wait until the middle of the month after the recent rains. Harvesting traditionally occurs in the end of September.
