The Washington Demon cross country team is scheduled to run at the Ottumwa meet tonight.

This will be the Demon’s first meet of the season, but with the temperatures that will be here tonight they could skip this meet.

The meet has already been pushed back to a 6 P.M. start time with the first race going off at 6:15 P.M. but heat has caused the Demons to miss this meet before.

Head coach Steve Roth says it will be a decision made later today, but he doesn’t want any of his kids to get sick because of the heat.

Roth added that he is planning on running the meet tonight, and that the kids are ready to go.

“We’re really pressuring and pushing the toughness out of our team, we want to be mentally tougher this year,” Roth said. “It was my first year last year and I didn’t push them hard enough and we weren’t as mentally tough as I thought we should be. We partner up a lot and talk a lot, we have rabbits that run out and we chase the rabbits, we’re pushing each other all of the time.”
