The Washington Demon baseball team had seven players make the Southeast Iowa all-conference team this year.
Jared Henry, Jake Redlinger, Colin Steele, Austin Knupp, T.J. Rausch, Walker Breard and Tanner Knupp all earned all-conference.
Henry was selected first team all pitcher. Henry was 3-2 in the conference with a 2.48 ERA and 24 strikeouts and opponents hit just .185 off of him.
Colin Steele was also named to the first team all-conference for his work at the hot corner. Steele had the best average on the team with a .377 in conference play with one triple and six doubles at the lead off spot.
Redlinger was the third and final first teamer for the Demons, he hit .300, but was most notable for his play in centerfield in which any ball hit close was as good as caught.
Head coach Nathan Miller says he is excited to see so many Demons with all-conference honors, but also notes there are more guys on the team than just those who made all-conference.
“There are a lot of different guys who helped out, you’d like to be able to give awards to every single kid on the team for all-conference but the five [two honorable mention] that we were able to get on is a great example of their work ethic and the teams work ethic,” Miller said.
The Demons finished their season in a three way tie for first place in the conference.
