While the drought has had a negative impact on area crops, there has been one positive to appear – an increase in ground nesting animals.  Andy Robbins with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says his office has seen a good increase in the number of turkeys, quail, pheasants and cottontail rabbits.

He adds they won’t know how much of an increase until they have completed their annual surveys.  Robbins says the higher populations will allow for more opportunities for hunters in the fall.
