State regulations require a certain amount of fluoride in municipal water supplies to help especially young kids keep healthy teeth.  Washington’s water plant many times takes a little bit of fluoride out of what naturally occurs in the aquifer water.

Chad McCleary from the water plant says there is a minimum and maximum amount set for fluoride – too much is not healthy, and too little is not effective for helping teeth.
