IMS will host their early bird cross country meet tonight, hosting 14 different teams.

The teams will range from small 1A schools to large 4A schools and include, Alburnett, Cardinal of Eldon, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, English Valley, Highland, Iowa City High, IMS, Lone Tree, Mediapolis, Muscatine, Winfield- Mt.Union, Wapello, Keota and Lynnville-Sully.

IMS head coach Marty Gingerich says the course is prepared, and that there was some minor things that had to be fixed and moved before the course was ready for tonight’s race.

Gingerich says in terms of his team, that they are ready to run, and that today will be their first test.

“This is kind of a test to see what kind of shape people are in,” Gingerich said. “We’re ready for this in terms of being ready to run a meet, we don’t know what the results will be, but we have some idea from some of our practices.”

The IMS early bird will start tonight at 5:00 at the IMS campus, and there will be Varsity and Junior Varsity races for both boys and girls.
