The Keota Eagles finished third in their pool at their tournament last night with a 1-2 record.
Keota lost to Pekin their first match of the tournament and year. They did fight for it, going to extra points and winning the first game against Pekin 30-28, but dropped the next two.
Keota did pick up one win against Lone Tree, but dropped their third match to Montezuma.
Head coach Dan Stout said that he was happy with the fight his team had, but that there was some stuff that needed work.
“Saw a lot of things which is good in these early tournaments that we need to work on still,” Stout said. “That is kind of why we do these early tournaments in the season, so we can see the things we need to concentrate on, and we saw a lot of those things last night. Just position wise and some quickness that we need to work on, and hopefully they are things that we can fix here in the next couple of weeks before we start conference play.”
Mid-Prairie was the champion of the tournament.
The Eagles are back in action a week from today.
