The Golden Hawks had a race last night at Williamsburg.

On the girls side it was Williamsburg that won their own meet with 50 points, with Mid-Prairie coming in sixth with 120 points.

Mallory McArtor was the top runner for Mid-Prairie with a 12th place time of 18:10. Tayler Foster was second on the team and 25th overall, Leah Parrott finished 28th, Summer Gracey was 29th and Hannah VanRoekel finished 32nd.

Head coach Mark Hoestetler said it was a great improvement from last year for the girls, especially with only have two returning runners.

On the boys side of things Vinton-Shellsburg was the winner with 53 points, and the Golden Hawks came in second with 76 points, with Sigourney in fifth with 121 points.

Mid-Prairie had two runners in the top ten with Jake O’Donnell finishing fifth with a time of 18:33, and Ryan Errthum finishing 10th with a time of 18:59. The Golden Hawks had four in the top 20 with Ty Feigenspan finishing 12th and Wyatt Cady finishing 19th, and rounding out the top five was Zeb Schwartz finishing 30th

Hoestetler says the hard work of the boy’s team in the offseason paid off in their race.

Mid-Prairie will see more running action on Tuesday at Keota.
