The Mid-Prairie football team is ready to take on a new district this season.

The Golden Hawks have been redistricted and lose the chance to play Albia, Sigourney-Keota who have dropped down to 1A, and gain Columbus Junction.

Mid-Prairie lost 17 Seniors off last years lineup, and will have to see which new players will step up and take their spots tomorrow at the Gatorade Scrimmage game said head coach Pete Cavanaugh.

“It’s usually a big night for us,” Cavanaugh said. “As far as evaluating our kids as to where they are and putting them into a game situation, although it’s obviously not as intense.”

The Golden Hawks start their season with a newer rivalry with the Washington Demons next Friday, before playing Clear Creek Amana at home on the 31st.
They then start District play with Central Lee, Donnellson on September 7th.

Mid-Prairie will have their biggest game of the year against last years District champs Mediapolis the third to last game of the season on October 5th.

The Golden Hawks were 6-4 last year, tied for third place.
