Acreage is being accepted as part of the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program. Bill Bargtenhagen with the Farm Service Agency in Washington County says continuous sign up for the Highly Erodible Land Initiative started last month. He says Iowa has been allocated a total of 50,000 acres eligible for enrollment in this program.
Offers are being accepted until the allocation has been met or the end of September, whichever is first. New land contracts approved under this sign up will become effective the first of the month following the month of approval and is valid for 10 years.
