Crop conditions across southeast Iowa remain bad, but rainfall late last week may be giving soybean farmers some hope. According to the USDA’s Crop and Weather Report the majority of corn in this part of the state remains in poor or very poor condition, but soybeans saw some improvement and may produce more pods due to the rainfall.

Farmers continue to use corn for silage and some have started to harvest for grain and seed. Due to early planting, crops are progressing ahead of last year and the five year average.
