The Sigourney-Keota football team is switching things up this year, and they are hoping for the better.

The Savage Cobras have a new defensive scheme that head coach Jared Jensen feels will bring some more normality to the team.

“Last year we struggled defensively, we were kind of switching here and there every week which wasn’t good for us, but we really didn’t know what else to do,” Jensen said.

Jensen says his team will need to understand that they may give up a big play, but that they need to make up for it by getting pressure on the quarterback.

The Savage Cobras open their season against Central Lee, Donnellson at home followed by Pekin.

Sigourney-Keota will start their district play away when they face Wilton on September 7th.

They will then trade off home and away games for the rest of the season and will not play Mediapolis due to re-districting.

Their final game will be against Iowa City Regina, in Iowa City on October 19th.
