Wapello will soon have warning sirens that reach all corners of the City. The decision was made earlier in the week during the City Council meeting to purchase two warning sirens from Danko Emergency Equipment out of Snyder, Nebraska for a cost of approximately $39,000.

One of the new sirens will be located near Wapello Elementary School; the other will be on the corner of Highway 61 and Oak Street.

According to City Clerk, Mike Delzell the current system was installed in the ‘60s and no longer covers the entire town.
