The Wapello City Council will increase rates to cover the water budget defecit. The City Council met for a work session late last week to figure out a way to cut down the $61,000 deficit.

According to Public Works Director Mike Delzell, a dollar will be added to the base rate for the next five years and for every 1,000 gallons of water you use there will be an addition charge of .80 cents. He adds this is a way to have those who use the most amount of water to pay the most.
