The Washington Demon football team plays Pella tonight at Pella.

Washington came away with a 30-0 win last week over 2A Mid-Prairie, so this will be the first test against a school the same size.

Pella was a 31-7 loser to 4A Marshalltown last week, and gave up a lot of yards through the air.

Marshalltown’s quarterback Blake Gimbel threw 48 times for 447 yards and four touchdowns, but Pella held the running game to negative yards.

Demon head coach Randy Schrader says throwing is an option, but a perfect game would be one that they never had to.

“I like to run the football, it’s never been a secret any place that I have been, we want to play power football, we want to run the football and establish the run,” Schrader said. “If we’re throwing more than 15, 18 times a game, that means we’re getting our tails kicked and we’re in trouble.”

Washington threw just 12 times against Mid-Prairie, and rushed 80 times for 213 yards.

The Pella offense will throw the ball as well, but the Demons had four interceptions last week, and didn’t look to slow up.
