With the recent amount of rainfall received, grass could be showing some signs of growth. This is prompting the City of Washington to remind property owners of their grass and weed ordinance.  Steve Donnelly with Building and Zoning for the City of Washington says the maximum height of grass and/or weeds allowed in the city is eight inches on all residential and commercial properties.

He says tall grass, weeds, non-ornamental vines, brush and other growth are considered a nuisance.  Donnelly adds these nuisances are subject to the city’s nuisance abatement process.  He says the city encourages property owners to keep their grass, weeds, and other growth trimmed.  To see the full city ordinance, contact Washington City Hall.
