The Washington Demons traveled to the Wapello volleyball tournament last night and finished fourth.

The Demons went 2-1 in pool play beating Columbus Junction and Central Lee, but dropped their match to Holy Trinity.

Their record put them in the third place game with Keota, but dropped the final match in three sets giving the Demons fourth place.

Head coach Jeff Spenner said the team played much better than they did at the Grinnell tournament over the weekend.

“I thought we played way better, in all aspects, we really dug the ball well last night,” Spenner said. “End result we didn’t quite get what we wanted, the ball really didn’t bounce the way we wanted it to some times on some sloppy play, but overall a good night.”

The Demons are in action next in their grand opening of their new gym when they take on school rival Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday.
