A celebration of pork and the industry it provides the area is this weekend. The 2nd Annual Quad County Pork Festival is being held at the Wellman Parkside Activity Center at North Park this Saturday. The day begins at 7am and ends with an evening concert.

Director of the Wellman Chamber of Commerce Lori Witthoft explains that after the Wellman Chamber was established last year they decided to hold a festival celebrating pork because of their unique position at the corner of Iowa, Johnson, Washington and Keokuk Counties. She says that one of the new things this year is the free kids’ activities, ranging from a petting zoo to a maze.

Other things to do include a tailgating party for the UNI game, mechanical bull and a pork burger eating contest. For more on the Quad County Pork Festival, listen to Today’s In Touch with Southeast Iowa.
