Improvements to city streets are in the works in Washington.  City Administrator Brent Hinson says the city has put bids out for six different mill and overlay projects – similar to what is currently happening on Avenue E.  He says a mill and overlay project removes the top three inches of asphalt and replaces it with the same amount of new material.

Hinson notes three of the six projects were part of the past capital improvement plan.  He adds the projects should take about a week to complete when started.  Residents and business owners on each street will be notified before any work begins.

The City Council is considering the bids for all of the projects during their October 3rd meeting with the work to be completed in that month.
