The Washington Demon volleyball team plays Keokuk tonight in Southeast Iowa Conference play.

The Demons have been close to success, but can’t seem to find a way to get over the hump, losing last week in four sets to Fairfield, and with close games each time, three sets to Mt. Pleasant.

The Demons are 3-7, with 197 kills, but just a .102 kill efficiency.

Beth Dillon, Stephanie Fishback and Sam Ellingson lead the team in kills, each having over 50.

Lauren Kimball has 170 assists on the season.

Head coach Jeff Spenner says the win will come down to the basics.

“We played two really tough teams in the conference already in Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield, and the girls just have to play a little bit more fundamental,” Spenner said. “We had some errors that cost us the win in a couple of those games, they just have to take care of it a little bit more and we can do that.”

Keokuk is 1-6 with just 132 kills and 86 digs on the year.

Rachel Dunlap is their top killer with 67.

The Demons and Chiefs faceoff tonight in Washington at 7:00.
