To recognize their sizable Hispanic community, there will be special festivities at tonight’s Farmers Market in Columbus Junction. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month there will be a mariachi band at the market from 5 to 6:30 and a taster’s choice salsa challenge featuring three salsas from the La Hacienda restaurant.

The sampling and votes will be sold for a quarter a piece to name Columbus Junction’s favorite salsa. Funds raised from the salsa challenge will go to Keep Columbus Beautiful.

Mallory Smith with the Columbus Junction Community Development Center says they hold something like this at the Farmers Market every year.
