Washington County and surrounding area veterans are making final preparations for their trip to Washington, DC this week.  The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is taking area World War II and Korean Conflict veterans to visit different memorials on Tuesday.  The day will also include an observation of the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.

A special sendoff ceremony is happening at the Washington High School this afternoon where Congressman Dave Loebsack will speak and present a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol to the Washington County Veterans Commission and will present the veterans with copies of the Congressional Record Statement he submitted honoring their service as well.  The public is encouraged to attend this ceremony beginning at 2:30.
