The City of Kalona is looking at refinancing its bonds. According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, the six bonds have an average interest rate of about 3%. He says that the market is competitive and they could possibly lower the rates by a percent. The advantages of refinancing was talked about at this weeks City Council meeting and the Council will discuss the matter further once the companies they’ve contacted get back to them with proposals.
