An informational meeting on FEMA mapping in Kalona has been set. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says that the meeting has been set for October 4th from 1:00-7:00.

The meeting will have representatives from FEMA and the DNR to explain to the residents what their participation in the National Flood Insurance Program would mean to them financially and as a property owner.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. The Council will make a decision on the program in November or December, before the January 16th effective date. Schlabaugh adds that this affects over 100 residents mostly located south of HW 22.
