The Kalona City Council has approved a preemptive cleanup measure. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh shares that a stretch of drainage ditch south of the A Avenue bridge in-between the mobile home parks in the city will be cleaned up by Colonial Lawncare of Wellman.

The work will involve cutting down saplings and small trees that could hinder the flow of storm water.

Schlabaugh adds that there aren’t any issues now, but it’s gotten to a point where the water could be obstructed. The project that will cost $1,500 will get started in 2-3 weeks.
