A Washington veteran that participated in Tuesday’s Honor Flight is expressing thanks for the turnout from the community.  Mary Case served in the Coast Guard during World War II and says after getting off the plane in Cedar Rapids, she was overwhelmed by the amount of people that came to welcome the Veterans home.

She says there was also a unique send off of road crews standing next to their trucks in Washington Tuesday morning as the Veterans were leaving in the charter buses.

Case says she would recommend any Veteran going on the Honor Flight because of the welcome home ceremony being like “the icing on the cake.”   You can hear more from Mary Case during today’s In Touch With Southeast Iowa program in the midday magazine.
