Mid-Prairie is at Columbus Junction tonight after beating undefeated Tipton last week.

Mid-Prairie likes to run the ball with 751 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns, while they are not afraid to throw the ball either with 519 yards and three touchdowns.

Mid-Prairie head coach Pete Cavanagh said to win this game, they have to play the same game that has been getting the job done so far.

“[We need] special teams, making sure we are doing our job, which we’re fighting right now kids wanting to do too much, or [asking questions] basic fundamentals, getting our passing game going and just playing Mid-Prairie football,” Cavanagh said.

Columbus has 1155 yards on the ground, and that is where they will keep it with 10 touchdowns, they have 400 plus yard through the air and five touchdowns, but are geared toward a running team.

Columbus Junction head coach Jeff Martin said his team will need to play each down of the game to the best to win this game.

“Compete every play, we need to compete every play,” Martin said. “One of our problems over the last couple of years is one thing goes bad, it turns into three or four, so we need to compete every play and do the best we can to forget the mistakes from a bad play, and get for the next play and get ready to go.”
