Area schools are participating in a program that helps feed underprivileged children in the area. Janelle Limoges with the Washington County Enrichment Foundation says that over weekends the Backpack Project or Operation Backpack sends children home with a backpack filled with food.

The program turns a 175 dollar donation into a years worth of food for one child. The program is now available at Ainsworth Elementary, Riverside Elementary and Stewart Elementary in Washington.
