Area law enforcement officials are in the process of conducting nighttime seat belt checks. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says that the Police Department along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol are keeping an eye on the roadways to make sure motorists are buckled up.
He says they will have people positioned to look for those not buckled up and will inform officers of the violator who will issue the citation. Chief Goodman reminds drivers that wearing seat belts is one of the most important messages that can be taken to ensure the safety of people in vehicles.
