Corn harvesting is under way in much of Iowa, while soybean harvesting is just getting started.According to the USDA’s Crop and Weather Report over 80% of corn in southeast Iowa has matured and is safe from frost, about twice the amount as the five year average.

Similarly, 25% of the corn in this part of the state has been harvested compared to last years 3%. Soybeans in southeast Iowa are behind the rest of the state in maturity, but on pace with years past.

Farmer Jim Cuddeback says that he’s starting his soybean harvesting this week, like other people with early beans.
