A group of vintage vehicle owners will bring a British tradition to Iowa today. The first Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour will start in New London this morning and will take a 68 mile route to Brighton.

According to Jeff Krug with the Tour the tradition of driving from London, England to Brighton, England started in 1896 when the British abolished a law that required a motor vehicle to be preceded by a man on foot with a red flag.

The vehicles in the tour range in age from pre 1908 to the late 1920’s.
