The Washington Demon Volleyball team dropped their first conference game last night to Mt. Pleasant.

This was the conference and home opener for the Demons.

They dropped all three matches, with the first one 25-21, and after being down 8-0 in the second set the Demons came back to tie up the game and take it to extra points before dropping the game 30-28, and then dropping the final game 25-23.

Head coach Jeff Spenner says his team played one of the better matches he’s seen in awhile.

“I honestly thought this was one of the better matches we played in the past two years,” Spenner said. “Even though we lost, they were such close games, we never gave up, we had one spot we were down eight points right off the bat, and to come back from that and make it 28-30, that’s pretty good. Now, the other side is that we made some mistakes and some little errors, but there is nothing extravagant, just some little things that we need to clean up.”

Beth Dillon was the top killer for Washington with 10, Lauren Swan had 18 digs, and Lauren Kimball had the hands of the team with 29 assists for Washington.

The Demons play again on Thursday against Fairfield at Fairfield.
