The Demon volleyball team tries their chances against another conference opponent tonight in Fairfield.

Washington dropped their first conference game on Tuesday against Mt. Pleasant who Fairfield beat in straight sets.

The Trojans are 4-0 this year, and ranked No. 9 in the state rankings.

They have 122 kills on the season and average 11 kills per set. They add a front row that has 22 total blocks this season.

Washington is 3-6, with 163 kills, and 44 aces. The Demons have 31 blocks in more than twice as many games as Fairfield.

Washington head coach Jeff Spenner says Fairfield is good, but they are not invincible.

“[Fairfield] beat Mt. Pleasant in three the other night, I think it was like four points each game,” Spenner said. “Talking to their coach and other people I think anyone can beat them, we just can’t have the mentality that, ‘Hey it’s Fairfield, we can’t beat them.” Anyone is beatable on any night, and I just have to get the girls into that mentality to, who cares who they are, yeah they are a great team, but I think we have the potential to be one of the best teams that we’ve ever had at Washington.”

Washington and Fairfield square off tonight at Fairfield with the first serve at 7 P.M.
