Winfield- Mt. Union plays Pekin tonight in the seasons rubber match, after coming off a close call with Highland on Tuesday.

WMU and Pekin have played twice this year, with Pekin winning the first one, the first match of the season, and WMU getting the win in the Southeast Iowa Superconference tournament.

The Wolves have 9.41 kills per set, and 3.17 aces. Their defense is also helpful with 11.75 digs per set.

Pekin puts up 6.67 kills per set, and 10.1 digs per set.

WMU head coach Dave Pieart says the danger in this match is assumption of success.

“I’m not too worried about the rivalry concept of it, it’s nice to have a reason to up for a particular game,” Pieart said, “Our danger is not assuming that since we beat them last time, we can beat them again, not just coasting into the match.”

WMU travels to Pekin tonight, with first serve at 7:30. This is the first match between the two teams at Pekin.
