The Winfield- Mt. Union volleyball team will play No. 1 in 3A Mediapolis tonight in conference play.

The Wolves are 11-3 overall, and are on a five game winning streak.

WMU has 344 kills on the year and an efficiency of .137, and the Wolves have three different hitters that can play the ball, including Alicia Escher, Shelby Therme and Erica Robinson.

Mediapolis is undefeated, and had been rankled No. 1 since the start of the year.

They have 339 kills with a .320 kill efficiency. Mediapolis also has thrown up 70 blocks on the year as well.

The 13-0 Bullettes top killer is Jessica Holsteen with 125 kills, and 24 aces.

WMU head coach Dave Pieart says this will be a tough match, but if his team can keep the fundamentals, it will be a good game.

“We need to stay calm, and not try to stay perfect, or do that little bit of extra that forces you to hit the ball wide or a little too anxiously,” Pieart said. “If we play defense, if we serve well, if we hit well, I think it will be a good contest.”
