The Winfield Mt. Union volleyball team dropped out of the rankings this past week, but are 5-2 on the season as they play Columbus Junction tonight.
The Wolves have 152 kills on the season and have a .132 kill efficiency, add that to their 20 blocks and 59 aces, and the Wolves still looks like a No. 15 team.
Columbus Junction is 2-7 after winning their first game of the season, and then dropped seven before winning their second game against Louisa- Muscatine.
The Wildcats have 117 kills and 45 aces on the year. They also have 42 blocks at the net.
WMU head coach Dave Pieart says he has not seen the Wildcats this year, which is of some concern.
“Just the fact that we haven’t seen them at all since last year, we haven’t managed to be anywhere in the first couple of weeks with them,” Pieart said. “We really don’t know what to expect from them, so we have to take them very seriously, and we don’t want to treat any conference opponent lightly.”
WMU faces off against Columbus Junction tonight at WMU at 7:00 P.M.
