Those who enjoy looking at the fall colors should prepare to do so soon. The fall foliage in our part of the state is predicted to peak around the 20th according to the Department of Natural Resources. The drought conditions are the cause of the colors to appear sooner than normal says Weather Eye Meteorologist Greg Tatro.
He says some colors started to appear in September and the cause for the colors is where the trees begin to prepare for the winter. Tatro adds as the leaves change colors, they will be more vibrant. The average time for peak colors in our part of the state is the second through fourth weeks of October.
