The Kalona Public Library is taking the week to recognize books that have been challenged, censored or banned. Library Director Ann Skaden says that their participating in the 30th Banned Books Week sponsored by the American Library Association.
Skaden shares that the campaign is meant to spread awareness to books that have been deemed inappropriate and celebrate the freedom to read.
She adds the library currently has a display of banned books as you walk in to draw attention to the matter.
