A large amount of money is on its way to multiple community foundations in the area. Last week Governor Terry Branstad, officials from the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Iowa Council of Foundations announced the funding for the 2012 County Endowment Fund Program.

Community foundations in Louisa, Jefferson, Henry, Johnson and Keokuk counties will receive around $126,000 each and will then give 75 percent of those funds to charitable projects and programs in their counties.

About $11 million in funding will be distributed to 85 community foundations across the state.
