Mid-Prairie girls cross country team had a bitter sweet moment, with Mallory McArtor qualifying for state with a third place finish in a time of 16:55.

Head coach Mark Hostetler says her determination is what makes McArtor so good.

“She’s pretty dedicated, she runs at home, a lot of times in the dark to get her practice in,” Hostetler says. “She’s a special girl, a lot of talent, but a lot of it is her determination too.”

The Golden Hawks finished out of the top three as a team though, in fourth with 109 points, just 21 points behind third place Davis County.

Columbus Junction was also at the meet, and they finished seventh with 181 points.

McArtor who took off right after the meet to play her final volleyball match of the year will go to Fort Dodge to represent the Lady Golden Hawks at the State cross country meet.
