Mid-Prairie will not be able to relax on senior night, as they have a game tonight that is for second place in the district.

The Golden Hawks and West Liberty Comets are playing for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Mid-Prairie is 6-2, 5-1 in district, and have 1249 yards on the ground withb18 touchdowns. Reid Miller has also had some success through the air with 972 yards and eight touchdowns, but with eight interceptions.

West Liberty is 5-3 overall, 5-1 in the district, and have 1222 yards through the air with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. Their running game is also successful with 1408 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Mid-Prairie head coach Pete Cavanagh said his team just needs to play solid and fundamentally sound Golden-Hawk football.

“Just have to be ready to play, don’t be flat, don’t sleep walk, and I don’t think they will, but it’s playoff football,” Cavanagh said. “If you’re playing for something in week nine, that means you have done something well, so hopefully our kids are ready to play, just don’t turn the ball over, and make plays on defense, and we should be okay.”
