If Homecoming wasn’t enough of a push to play well tonight for Mid-Prairie, the fact that they are playing No. 2 in the state may be, or the fact that it is for first place in the district.

Mediapolis is 6-0 and has 18 touchdowns on the ground with 1281 yards, but their most impressive area is passing with 1283 yards, 22 touchdowns and no interceptions by their quarterback Jesse Ertz.

Mid-Prairie can run the ball as well 1024 yards and 14 touchdowns, and through the air they can compete with 648 yards and five touchdowns.

Head coach Pete Cavanagh says his team just needs to go out and play football.

“We’re just going to say ‘Look this is what you practiced for all summer and spring, and why you lifted all of those weights, and don’t play tight,’ and that is the message that we’re going to say,” Cavanagh said. “Just be loose, a lot of people don’t expect us to win, and all that matters is what the guys in the locker room think and we’ll be ready to go, I have the utmost confidence that our guys will be ready to go, it’s just if we execute and run the plays that we need to.”
