Mid-Prairie football plays their first round of the playoffs tonight when they host Prairie City Monroe.

The Golden Hawks finished their season 7-2, and are a running team that can gun it when they need it.

They have 1430 yards on the ground with 20 touchdowns, and through the air they have 1086 yards and eight touchdowns with eight interceptions, but the big game for the Golden Hawks is their defense, allowing only 41 points to Mediapolis in the last four games.

PCM finished the season 4-6 and only has 558 yards on the ground, so look for the pass with 2132 yards in the air, 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Mid-Prairie head coach Pete Cavanagh said the keys to tonight’s game are simple.

“Simple, defense, special teams, don’t turn the ball over on offense,” Cavanagh said. “That has kind of been our recipe all year and we’re going to stick with it. PCM is going to be a really good football team, despite their record, they’ve played a lot of good teams, and they’ll be a good football team.”
