A local marching band has reason to celebrate after receiving a high rating at a state competition. At this years State Marching Band Contest held in Pella, Mid-Prairie’s High School Marching Band received a high enough ranking from the panel of judges to get the Division I rating.
Mid-Prairie Band Instructor David Kunz says that they were one of only two bands in Class 2A to achieve the rating at the competition.
The last time the school’s band received the distinction was six years ago. Kunz adds it’s a great way to start the year.
