Mid-Prairie School District is participating in another fundraiser benefiting John Hopkins University. The Mid-Prairie Middle School fundraiser benefiting the research of childhood cancer at the University is sponsored by the Kalona Optimist Club.

Optimist member Dennis Phares shares that the Penny Wars is similar to the Mile of Pennies fundraiser held at the three Mid-Prairie Elementary School’s in September. One difference being dimes and nickels count as negative money, meaning students can add change to any class’s jar, lowering their total, making it more difficult to get enough quarters and pennies to stretch a mile.

The fundraiser started last Monday and runs through Friday, November 9th.
