A new commission has been formed in the city of Washington to help with a public access cable entity. City Administrator Brent Hinson says the Cable Commission was established to help increase the usage of the public access channel. He says keeping information updated has been a challenge because of obtaining access to the equipment.
Hinson adds having the equipment in a centralized location will help in the updating of information faster and more frequently. He says in the future events could be broadcast live on this channel such as live plays, city council meetings and school board meetings.
He says they have been working closely with Iowa City’s public access channel and are hoping to develop this into a community resource. To find out more about the City Cable Commission, contact Washington City Hall.
