A project a year and a half in the making is getting ready to open with a special celebration tonight.  The Stevens Center at Hamakua Place is an emergency shelter project that can accommodate a ten bed crisis housing facility for teens.

Deb Bodensteiner with Hamakua Place says will the center serve youth ages 11 to 17 as well as young adults in transition and women with small children in crisis.

Work on the $32,000 Stevens Center started in March of last year. The open house to celebrate its completion is from 5:00-7:00 tonight.
