An open house on FEMA mapping in Kalona is being held today. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says that the meeting has been set for today from 1:00-7:00.

The open house will have representatives from FEMA and the DNR to explain to residents what their participation in the National Flood Insurance Program would mean to them financially and as a property owner. There will also be paperwork related to the plan available to review.

The Council will make a decision on the program in November or December, before the January 16th effective date. Schlabaugh adds that this affects over 100 residents mostly located south of HW 22.
