An event that drew a record number of participants last year is happening again tomorrow. As part of Governor Terry Branstad’s goal of becoming the healthiest state in the nation, Healthiest State Walks are being conducted not only here in Washington County but across the entire state.

Edie Nebel from Washington County Public Health says this walk is a follow up to last year’s Start Somewhere Walk where more than 2600 people walked in Washington County and 291,000 took part statewide.

Nebel notes increasing physical activity is one way to reduce obesity and work toward becoming healthier.  KCII’s Big Red Radio will be at the event playing music and making announcements as well.

This year’s walk is taking place on the square from 11:00 to 1:00 tomorrow. To sign up for this walk or one in your area, look at this link.
